OVERVIEW: On paper, El Camino is in the driver's seat but the seatbelt isn't strapped on tight and Serra is approaching with big hopes and a set of keys. Meanwhile, pre-meet slight favorite Long Beach Poly is left to wonder what happened. El Camino projects to score two-thirds of its points in the jumps, including 17 points in the long jump, where it has three athletes entered. Serra projects to score very well (first, second or third) in six different events and could conceivably win every one of them, which would be worth 60 points. Long Beach Poly's remaining chance? That would only play out if both El Camino and Serra suffer a setback like the disqualification that Poly endured in the 4x400 relay at prelims.
