He did it during the regular season, but once the playoffs arrived Linganore's Zach Zwinak kicked it up a notch.
The senior rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries in a 41-9 victory over Hereford and earns this week's MDVarsity.com State Player of the Week honors.
The Penn State commit got the Lancers on the board in the first half with a six-yard touchdown run, but it was his 44-yard run on Linganore's first possession of the second half that put the game away.
"Zach was born right," Linganore head coach Rick Conner said in a previous interview. "We just let him do his thing -- it's playoff time and Zach showed up."
Showed up might be an understatement.
In the Lancers three playoff wins, Zwinak has rushed for 746 yards and seven touchdowns, accounting for 39 percent of his total yards and 33 percent of his total touchdowns this season.
On the season, he has rushed for 1,908 yards and 21 touchdowns and recorded 61 tackles on defense through the region final.
Even though Zwinak is second on the team in carries behind fellow senior Kevin Myers, he already has surpassed his numbers from last season when Linganore reached the Class 4A state final.
Last year, Zwinak rushed for 1,447 yards and 19 touchdowns on offense and recorded 53 tackles and five sacks on defense.
