Got Game Bay Area

JERRY RICE JR. MENLO SCHOOL -- FOOTBALL
Coming into the season, everyone knew that
Rice Jr. was one of the top wide receivers in
the area, but what no one could have
guessed is that he's a pretty good quarterback
as well. Pressed into service under center
on Oct. 10 (the Menlo starting QB was
injured), the senior completed all nine of his
pass attempts for 108 yards and ran for
178 yards and a pair of touchdowns in
a 29-26 win over Terra Nova.

EMILY RICHARD CARLMONT -- GIRLS' BASKETBALL
When Carlmont needs a big basket, they make sure the ball is in
Richard's hands. The 5-foot-7 senior is one of the best in the country,
and she's rated the state's No. 3 point guard in the ESPNU HoopGurlz
100. Richard is capable of creating an open shot for her teammates as
well as putting it in the basket herself, either by driving or unfurling a
picture-perfect 3-point shot.

CARLEE PAYNE FOOTHILL -- GIRLS' SOCCER
Payne was integral to Foothill's run to the NCS
title game last season. Her goal just 19 seconds
into the semifinal match stood up as the only
tally in a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Castro
Valley, and the Falcons will be counting on more
clutch production from Payne this season. The
senior is one of several returning starters for
Foothill, and with Payne leading the way, the
team is looking to battle back to the
championship game and win it all.
