Perfect finale for Henderson, Ziegenhirt

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Pitcher Jolene Henderson and catcher Lindsey Ziegenhirt both put together remarkable careers while at Sheldon (Sacramento, Calif.), including back-to-back CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I titles their sophomore and junior seasons.

Their senior seasons didn't end quite like they'd hoped, however, as Sheldon fell to Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove, Calif.) in this year's section final. The Huskies finished the year 28-3 and were ranked No. 8 in the final ESPN RISE FAB 50.

But the pair was still able to achieve victory one last time on the high school scene by helping to lead Team Battle to a 2-0 victory over Team Undeniable at the Under Armour All-America Softball Game at the ESPN RISE Games presented by Target.

Henderson was on the mound and Ziegenhirt was behind the dish in the final inning of the game. When Henderson got the last out on a grounder to second, it capped off a no-hit performance by the Team Battle pitching staff.

It was a sweet finish to high school ball for Henderson and Ziegenhirt, who will continue their playing careers together at Cal.

"End it with a win," said Ziegenhirt.

"It's more fun pitching to her because she's obviously my favorite catcher, which is why we're going to school together," added Henderson. "She always catches me. The most fun part of it was being there doing it together. It was the perfect way to end our high school careers."
