The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission announced May 6 that post-race test results from the Longines Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands, both Grade 1, were all clear.
"After undergoing full instrumental analysis to detect more than 1,500 substances, all samples were cleared," the KHRC release said.
The KHRC's official laboratory, LGC Science Group, Ltd. (formerly HFL Sport Science, Inc.), had samples taken to its lab via courier the evenings of May 2 and 3, with chemists and analysts worked through the weekend to expedite testing results.
"The ability to produce results quickly is integral in giving the wagering public, industry stakeholders and all competitors the knowledge and confidence that these races were conducted with integrity," said KHRC executive director, John T. Ward. "And, I am very thankful to the LGC employees for working through the weekend to apply their state of the art testing and produce results with such a rapid turnaround time."
