Dodgers are undecided if they are going to bring up Yasiel Puig on Sept 1 or later in Sept so he can get more consistent at-bats at AAA for his development. However, their tentative plan is for him to be back with Dodgers this year. It is also unlikely that Puig clears waivers and even more unlikely he's traded, at least until the off-season. According to a league source the Dodgers put close to 20 players on waivers this past weekend like almost every other club does this time of year.

He had 525 plate appearances that year. Gyorko hit his 23rd of the season off Zach Davies Monday night and this time it took him just 327 plate appearances.

Jays MVP candidate Josh Donaldson just homered to right center to give him four bombs in his last five at-bats (and tie the game 1-1). His only non-homer came in his first AB tonight, but traveled 400 feet to straightaway center before Orioles OF Nolan Reimold hauled it in at the wall. Safe to say, Donaldson is locked in.

Clayton Kershaw will pitch in a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday and manager Dave Roberts was jokingly asked if Tim Tebow will be there to hit. "I don't know if Tebow will be a part of that," Roberts said. "I know there's some strength behind his swing. I saw a little video. Great athlete. I just don't know if he's ready for the Clayton Kershaw slider, though."

After his five-set comeback win Monday at the US Open, John Isner, an avid football fan, was asked about Colin Kaepernick's refusing to stand during the National Anthem. "Yeah, I thought that was pathetic from him. The cause he was going for, fine by me, but don't do it in that fashion. He could have found some other ways to present his voice there. A lot of NBA players have done it, and good on 'em. For him doing it in that way really irked me. I'm a big Blaine Gabbert fan now."

CC Sabathia had some interesting things to say about the Colin Kaepernick situation before tonight's with the Royals: "It's his right as a citizen. There's a lot of stuff going on that's not right; it's just something that he chose to do. It's his right. I think it's a good, non-violent way to try to get some change." Although Sabathia said his brother-in-law is in the military and has served in Iraq, he did not consider Kaepernick's protest as a slap at the military. "I'm kind of indifferent on it; it's weird," he said. "I understand where he's coming from. Obviously being an African-American, raising two African-American boys, it's scary. It's something that's going on and something we need to change. Like I said, it's his way, his opinion of trying to non-violently – not hurt cops or anything like that or hurt anybody – way of getting his point across." Carmelo said a couple months ago that athletes need to come together "I think people have. With what went on with D-Wade and his cousin, him being at the thing in Chicago, or was thinking about going to the town hall meeting they had on ESPN, I think it's a good way to hopefully get some change."

Joey Bosa said his mom Cheryl Bosa did not realize her Facebook comments on social media were public when she said her family should have done what Eli Manning did to the Chargers: "What do you expect from a mom?" Bosa said. "She wants what is best for me. ... It was a dumb decision. Leave it to a mom to mess up like this."

Joey Bosa said he did not get involved in the business part of contract negotiations. He trusted his parents and agents to do what's best because they've been through it before. He said it was strange to watch his team playing on TV. "We came to a fair deal and there's no animosity between any of us."
