Pride the root of Europe's success

A complete unknown and, at first, a bit of a joke, Europe has come together and proved with its win over Sweden and a berth in the finals against Canada that it is the real thing.

Rams DE Robert Quinn showcased his speed, power and counter moves on the strip-sack of Bucs QB Jameis Winston. Quinn turned the corner and got the ball out. That lead to Ethan Westbrook's TD on the fumble return. Turnovers and points. Exactly what defensive coordinator Gregg Williams teaches. Rams up 31-20 in the fourth quarter.

The Rams have taken control. With the Bucs in the red zone, Robert Quinn came around the edge on third down and batted the ball out of Jameis Winston's hands, allowing Ethan Wearbrooks to pick it up and return it 77 yards for a touchdown. They lead, 31-20. Such a great effort by Quinn.

Rory McIlroy is playing for two trophies, the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup. Ryan Moore can only win the Tour Championship and if he wins Dustin Johnson wins the FedEx Cup and $10 million dollars!!

Ryan Moore drains the par save, Rory McIlroy follows up with his own par. They'll now go to the par 3 15th hole to try and decide a winner.

Two interceptions for Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, four turnovers for the Jets. So much for the offensive juggernaut.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Poor red zone series from Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets QB forced a couple throws into tight windows and Chiefs safety Eric Berry came up with an end zone interception. The Jets left points on the field and still trail 17-3 in the third quarter.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

That missed field goal by Roberto Aguayo killed the Bucs' momentum. The defense gave up multiple explosive plays on the ensuing drive -- a 19-yard catch by Kenny Britt, a 12-yard catch by Bradley Marquez and a 16-yard run by Todd Gurley. It set up a 1-yard touchdown run from Gurley. Rams now lead 24-20. This is a Rams offense that hadn't scored an offensive touchdown yet this season.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Todd Gurley fantasy owners are seeing production from the Top 5 RB today. Although Gurley is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry, he is getting high volume touches (22 carries) and has scored two touchdowns. And he still has the fourth quarter to play vs. the Bucs with the Rams holding a 24-20 lead.

NFL

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Perhaps Todd Gurley has indeed been freed. Ran for 38 yards on six carries on that drive, including a 1-yard touchdown run and a brilliant 16-yard run in which he somehow remained on his feet. Rams lead, 24-20.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Uh oh. Roberto Aguayo just missed a 41-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter, with 4:41 remaining. It's still 20-17 Bucs. He also missed a PAT earlier today. Bucs fans booed. Aguayo grimaced coming off the field. Robert Ayers tried to give him some encouragement.

Spencer Ware lost a fumble for the second straight game after not losing one during his college or NFL career up to that point. This was was costly. The Chiefs were ahead 17-3 and were about to score another touchdown when the ball slipped from his grasp and went out of the end zone for a touchback.

Michael Collins ESPN Senior Writer

And then there were two!! Rory McIlroy misses eagle putt to win it all but Ryan Moore drains a 9'4" putt for birdie to extend the playoff!!! Kevin Chappell can only manage a par so he's out. Back to the 18th tee!!!!

So now Russell Wilson has a high-ankle sprain on his right leg and a knee brace on his left. Seattle's bye cannot come quickly enough (Week 5). The team faces the New York Jets first.

Sheil Kapadia ESPN Writer

Russell Wilson left the game for one snap with 9:59 left in the third quarter. He was slow to get up after 49ers defender Eli Harold brought him down. It looked like Wilson's left leg bent awkwardly as he went to the ground. He entered the game with a right ankle injury he sustained in Week 1.

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

Asked to compare Carson Wentz to Ben Roethlisberger this week, Doug Pederson noted that one of Wentz's biggest strengths is that he "continues to have that vision down the field when things begin to break down." Pretty good example of that on the TD to Sproles.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

QB Carson Wentz showing his ability to manage the pocket on the 73-yard TD pass to Darren Sproles. The rookie stepped up, found room to work outside of the pocket and kept his eyes up the field to locate Sproles. Eagles jump to a 20-3 lead over the Steelers in the 3rd quarter.

Kevin Seifert NFL Nation

I've cringed at some of the Carson Wentz-Ben Roethlisberger comparisons. Roethlisberger is a unique player with a long list of historic accomplishments. But Wentz's touchdown pass to Eagles RB Darren Sproles was vintage Roethlisberger: Moving around the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield and following along with his teammates' attempts to improvise.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

Wentz escapes pocket, extends the play, keeps eyes downfield, finds Sproles, who foxtrots the rest of the way. Eagles look fantastic at the moment.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

And Jets CB Darrelle Revis (eye) is back.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

Jets CB Darrelle Revis has an eye injury; his return is questionable, per the Jets.

ESPN Stats and Information

Trevor Siemian found success targeting Emmanuel Sanders Sunday, throwing two of his four touchdown passes to Sanders after throwing two interceptions targeting him in the first two weeks of the season. Sanders had 11 targets in the first half alone, the most first-half targets for any player in a game this season.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

The Jets played a lousy half in all three phases and trail, 17-3. They committed three turnovers, with the Chiefs converting them into 17 points. No rhythm on offense and the defense has no answers for the Chiefs' short-passing attack.

Jeremy Fowler ESPN Staff Writer

Steelers were adamant during week that they had to control the Eagles' screen and misdirection plays. Well, the Eagles are gashing Pittsburgh's defense with the short game - 183 passing yards for Carson Wentz despite no deep shots. Eagles lead 13-3 at the half. Most impressive for Philly? Pittsburgh coming up empty in the run game so far.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Todd Gurley scores his first touchdown of the season, a 1-yard run on third down to make it 20-17 at halftime. Rams must take care of the football in the second half. Bucs have scored 13 points off turnovers. And the Rams are the last team that can afford to turn the football over. Gurley has been limited to 35 yards on 14 carries. He is averaging 2.66 yards per carry this season.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

Jets CB Darrelle Revis was shaken up on a tackle and took himself out of the game. Looks like he might be getting checked for a concussion.
