The Angels had back-to-back first-round picks in the 2009 draft. With the first (24th overall), they took Randal Grichuk, who just put the Blue Jays ahead with a fourth-inning solo homer at Angel Stadium. With the second, they took Mike Trout.

GM Rob Pelinka is a Michigan product and obviously team president Magic Johnson is Michigan State's greatest basketball player. So the two have seen plenty of Wagner, who plays with emotion and energy. With Julius Randle hitting restricted free agency and Brook Lopez approaching free agency, Lakers add a big who can stretch floor for Lonzo Ball on pick and pops, can rebound and will play hard.

Mike Trout began this game by walking for the 12th time in 38 plate appearances, but Justin Upton followed with a double, allowing Trout to then score on a wild pitch. Upton is almost solely responsible for ensuring that Trout gets enough pitches to hit.

Clippers acquire Gilgeous-Alexander, pick Robinson

The Clippers were busy during the first round of the NBA draft on Thursday, selecting forward Miles Bridges with the 12th overall pick and trading him to Charlotte for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Clippers also selected Jerome Robinson with the 13th pick.
