The Lakers had referees at practice Friday and they were instructed not to call ticky-tack fouls, but forward Julius Randle was hit in the mouth and began bleeding. He stayed in for the next drill. It's not clear if he'll need stitches. "I think they missed that [foul]," Lakes coach Luke Walton said of the officials. "When another guys is bleeding, it's usually a sign they got fouled."

Luke Walton was asked to evaluate how the Lakers' rookies sang to a crowd Thursday night. "I respected the effort but not impressed with the talent," he said. Years ago, Walton endured plenty of rookie hazing alongside veterans such as Shaq and Kobe Bryant, though he wouldn't clarify what exactly happened. "Yeah, I've seen a shrink about it," Walton said with a grin. "Had to block that out of my life."

The Lakers' practices have featured fun competitions under new head coach Luke Walton, including a 3-point shoot-out, one-on-one battles and a home-run pass challenge. " I definitely wasn't expecting that," says point guard D'Angelo Russell. "It feels like you're going back to your roots, going back to high school days and stuff like that, where you're just competing and laughing about it at the same time."

Cards a huge favorite over Rams

The Cardinals will look to get back into the win column as the Rams come to town. ESPN's FPI has Arizona as the biggest favorite of the week.

Tavon Austin (shoulder) and Kenny Britt (thigh) are officially listed as questionable, though I'd be surprised if either sits. Will Hayes (ankle) is doubtful. Pharoh Cooper, EJ Gaines and Nelson Spruce have no designation because the "probable" classification no longer applies. They'll play. Dominque Easley (illness) also questionable, but he was a full participant today.

Rams DE Will Hayes did not practice with the team this week. Jeff Fisher called him a game-time decision. Sounds like everyone else (Nelson Spruce and Pharoh Cooper included) is good to go.
