Johnson loses control, forced to backup car

Jimmie Johnson spun through the grass near the pit-road entrance during the first practice session at Auto Club Speedway and will need to use a backup car for the race at the 2-mile track.

Brandon Ingram (right patellar tendinitis) was a full participant in Lakers practice today after leaving yesterday's practice early. He is probable to play tonight vs. Minnesota.

Shaquille O'Neal is having his statue unveiled at Staples Center today. He won three straight Finals MVP awards with the Los Angeles Lakers, one of two players in NBA history to win the award in three consecutive seasons (Michael Jordan). O'Neal ranks in the top 10 in Lakers history in points, rebounds and blocks despite ranking 20th in games played.
