Juan Uribe strains hamstring

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe left Thursday night's 3-1, 10-inning loss to the San Francisco Giants in the ninth inning with a strained right hamstring.

The Dodgers described the injury as "mild," but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said it was too early to tell how long the veteran would be out. The team did not put Uribe on the disabled list, waiting until Friday to gauge the severity of the injury.

"Obviously, it was enough to get him out of there," Mattingly said. "It wasn't just something where he kind of strained it. I don't know what it was. We'll know a lot more tomorrow."

Losing Uribe for an extended period could be a blow to the Dodgers, primarily because of his defensive presence. Uribe also has been a surprising contributor on offense, batting .306 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.

The Dodgers are thin on the left side of the infield. Justin Turner and Chone Figgins would be the likely replacements for Uribe.
