LOS ANGELES -- UCLA freshman guard Norman Powell, hospitalized Wednesday because of an allergic reaction, returned to practice Friday and is probable for the Bruins' game Saturday against Penn at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
Powell, averaging 4.6 points in 16.6 minutes, swelled up and broke into hives during practice Wednesday. He was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where doctors controlled the symptoms and he spent the night for observation. The cause of the allergic reaction was not immediately known, though it was thought to be a food allergy. He did not practice Thursday.
The Bruins will be without forward Reeves Nelson, who was dismissed from the team Friday because of conduct issues. Also, swingman De'End Parker, who has missed the last five games with patellar tendinitis, will remain out for Saturday's game against Penn.
