A decade ago on this same Rose Bowl field, UCLA knocked the Pac-10 king off its throne by upsetting No. 2 USC 13-9 with a great defensive performance. The Bruins now lead the current Pac-12 king, Stanford, 13-9. The Cardinal has six-plus minutes to score its first touchdown of the night.

ESPN Stats and Information

Christian McCaffrey was limited to 72 all-purpose yards in the first half, tied for his fewest in the first half of a game since the start of last season. He had 244 all-purpose yards in the first half against UCLA last season (369 total).

Even in a game that features Christian McCaffrey and Josh Rosen, there wasn't much that resembled offense in the first half at the Rose Bowl. The teams combined for 267 yards of total offense and the touchdown that provided UCLA's 10-3 lead was the product of a short field. The Bruins have been limited to 2.7 yards per carry (43 yards), while Rosen is 7 of 11 for 77 yards. Still, somehow, it feels like UCLA has been in control.

Bruins cash in after forcing INT

After a turnover gave the Bruins a short field, UCLA QB Josh Rosen finds TE Nate Iese for a 10-yard touchdown. UCLA takes a 7-3 lead over Stanford.

Kyle Bonagura ESPN Staff Writer

UCLA took advantage of a short field to take a 7-3 lead just before the end of the first quarter. In the Bruins' eight-game losing streak to Stanford, they have never led at halftime, nor have they outscored the Cardinal in a single half. LB Kenny Young did a good job reading Stanford QB Ryan Burns on an interception he returned 40 yards to set UCLA up at the Stanford 26.
