History says be cautious of Dodgers' hot start

The Dodgers are the sixth team to start the postseason 6-0 or better. Only two of those six teams won the World Series: the 1976 Reds and 1970 Orioles. Since then, three other teams have done it, and each lost in the World Series.

You can analyze all the numbers and metrics and managerial decisions, but the Dodgers are one win away their first World Series appearance since 1988 because they've completely shut down the Cubs' offense. Through three games, they've held the Cubs to a .160 average while striking out 32 batters and issuing just four walks. It's not over until it's over and if anyone knows about impossible comebacks it's Theo Epstein, but this one looks over.

After a 6-1 NLCS Game 3 victory, the Dodgers are shaking hands with a 3-0 series lead and a chance to finish off the sweep Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs have some late life after an Alex Avila single and an Albert Almora double to lead off the ninth inning. But they still have a long ways to go to catch the Dodgers in Game 3.

The Dodgers' Yu Darvish needed just seven pitches to get through the six and is at 76 for the game. There is a pronounced nervous energy at Wrigley Field right now.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

In a somewhat curious decision given how well his bullpen has pitched, Dave Roberts does not bat for Yu Darvish with the bases loaded and a chance to blow the game wide open. So of course Darvish draws a four-pitch walk because that's the kind of postseason it's been so far for Roberts: Every decision turns to gold.
