Tracking the Dodgers' rotation is a daily affair. Rookie Julio Urias was named the starter for Saturday. Kenta Maeda was not only scheduled for Monday, he was first optioned to the AZL Dodgers but will return for the Colorado series. Sunday is TBA, but rookie Brock Stewart will likely start that day.

The Dodgers got tricky with the roster, as they optioned Kenta Maeda to the Arizona Rookie League. He is not expected to report there. Since that team's season ends Sunday, Maeda can come right back and start for the Dodgers on Monday. The Dodgers needed roster space for both Carlos Ruiz and Brock Stewart.

Pujols ranks among greats

Albert Pujols knocked in his 100th RBI of the season in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays, giving him 13 seasons with 100 or more RBIs. That's tied with Jimmie Foxx and Lou Gehrig for the second-most such seasons in MLB history since 1920, when RBIs were first recorded (ESPN Stats & Info).

The Dodgers have Bryant's number

The Cubs begin a three-game road series against the Dodgers on Friday and if history is any indication, Kris Bryant won't be his normal self. Bryant is 8-37 with 19 K in his career vs. the Dodgers, and his .216 batting average vs. the Dodgers is his worst against any NL team (ESPN Stats & Info).

My favorite story about Carlos Ruiz's leadership qualities: Roy Halladay told me he was pitching one night, gave up a couple of hits late in the game and out came Charlie Manuel. Next thing he knew, Ruiz was running to the mound because he clearly wanted to get there before the manager. "He said, `Don't let him take you out of this game. We need you in this game,'" Halladay said. "So I said to Charlie, `I want to stay in.' He looked at me. He looked at Chooch. Then he looked at Chase (Utley), who was standing behind me. And he knew he was pretty much outnumbered." So of course he stayed in the game. By Carlos Ruiz's decree.
