Aces ambushed by former teams

The Nationals' Max Scherzer and Dodgers' Alex Wood had arguably their worst outings of the season Friday, as both fell victim to the long ball. Scherzer allowed three straight homers for the first time in his career, while Wood allowed two homers after allowing just two total in his first 16 games combined this season.

Red Sox 6, Angels 2: In his latest bit of dominance, Chris Sale also made history. Sale tossed six scoreless innings and struck out nine batters to reach 200 strikeouts for the season. He got to that mark in 141 1/3 innings, fewer than any AL pitcher ever. The Red Sox scored five runs in the first inning and cruised in the opener of a six-game West Coast trip.
