Rams coach Sean McVay said DB Lamarcus Joyner, who missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury, will play on Sunday "if everything goes according to plan." ILB Mark Barron (thumb) and S Cody Davis (thigh) sat out practice, but the Rams have a chance to be fully healthy near the midway point of the season. "Very fortunate," said McVay, who credited the training staff.

When asked the biggest things Dave Roberts has done since taking over as Dodgers manager, Clayton Kershaw immediately answered that getting through to Yasiel Puig and bringing out the best in the slugger is at the top of the list.

Clayton Kershaw is the scheduled Game 5 starter and he admits he's in a little bit of a tough spot. He can't anticipate that the Dodgers will finish off the sweep. "I have to expect to pitch and be surprised when we win," he said. "Hopefully it doesn't work out and I won't have to pitch."

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is speaking to the media at Wrigley Field. Kershaw is either a few hours from celebrating his first World Series appearance or about 26 hours from taking the mound in Game 5 of the NLCS.

Yasiel Puig has had a tremendous postseason, hitting .429 with a .538 OBP. "He's really bought into how important every pitch is," Dave Roberts said. Roberts described how it's been a season-long process. Indeed, Puig improved from a .777 OPS in the first half to .374 in the second half as his strikeout-to-walk improved from 62-33 to 38-31. A disciplined Puig is now a more dangerous hitter.

One thing Rams QB Jared Goff would like to improve on from Sunday is "throwing the ball down the field." "I was disappointed we didn't hit any of those deep balls," he said. Asked specifically about connecting with Sammy Watkins (10 targets and 2 catches the last 3 weeks), Goff said: "We've done it before; I don't think we need to change anything. Just continue to get reps, try to dial it in, and be more consistent. But we've done it before."

Joe Maddon says that his hope is to save Jon Lester for a start if the series gets back to Los Angeles with Jake Arrieta starting tonight and Jose Quintana slated if there is a Game 5 tomorrow in Chicago. But the Cubs manager added that 'anything can happen' if it gets far enough along tonight. Both John Lackey and Wade Davis are available for multiple innings tonight.

Chicago pitcher Jose Quintana says the Cubs got together as a team and talked today ahead of a must-win Game 4 at Wrigley. The message? One game at a time.
