Sean McVay may have to sleep in his office tonight, with his Rams playing against the 49ers -- and his good friend, Kyle Shanahan -- on Thursday night. He used to sleep in his office in Washington, but he had a big couch there. Not so much here. "That might be something you have to consider, depending on how the rest of the night goes," McVay said.

Rams first-year head coach Sean McVay blamed his playcalling constantly after Sunday's loss to his former team. Here's his explanation for why ...

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Rams are "hopeful" that CB Kayvon Webster will play on Thursday, Sean McVay said. Webster missed Sunday's game with a shoulder injury. If he can't go, Troy Hill can serve as depth. He's now eligible to come off his suspension.

Ten years in, Kershaw allows first slam

The Phillies' Aaron Atherr hit it with two out in the sixth inning at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night. The blow accounted for all of Philadelphia's runs in its 4-3 win.

So, why did the Rams get the ball on their own 2-yard line following the Redskins' second kickoff? It was what Sean McVay called the "double after" rule, which means there was a penalty on each team following a change of possession. In those instances, it becomes a spot foul. Pharoh Cooper fielded the kick at the 2. If he would've fielded it in the end zone, it would've been a touchback. "It was correctly interpreted," McVay said.

Sean McVay said the Rams are on a "good track" to have Aaron Donald ready for Thursday's game. He felt good coming out of Sunday's game and felt good during today's lift. Donald was not happy with his play, but McVay felt he "did some good things." "You could see, his get-off and some of the things that make Aaron rare, did show up."

The Rams already have five offensive touchdowns. The rest of the NFC West has four offensive touchdowns. What.

Clayton Kershaw was sailing along with a shutout in the sixth inning tonight when he gave up his first career grand slam -- a monster shot by Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr. Kershaw had been sharp with his breaking ball all night, but he threw one too many sliders to Altherr. Manager Dave Roberts pulled Kershaw for a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. The Dodgers, who have a magic number of four to clinch the NL West, trail the Phillies 4-2.

Dodgers to watch Seager's elbow down stretch

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he expects to play Corey Seager every day down the stretch, even though Roberts acknowledged the team's star shortstop is operating in "preservation" mode with his sore right elbow.
