Clayton Kershaw worked around a one-out walk of Cubs LF Kyle Schwarber to put up a scoreless first in 18 pitches. He hit 95 to 96 with his fastball four times. The Dodgers' ace looks amped up. You can't blame him.

Clayton Kershaw walks Kyle Schwarber on a 96-mph 3-2 fastball and Cubs fans are trying to get a "Ker-shawwww ... Ker-shawwww" chant going between pitches.

Well, that didn't take long. Three batters into NLCS Game 5, the Dodgers have given Clayton Kershaw a lead to work with on Cody Bellinger's RBI double to right.

It's still a nice night for Chicago in mid-October, but the temperature is considerably cooler and the wind isn't blowing out quite as much as in Games 3 or 4, which could cut down on the number of home runs we see tonight.

There's no Lonzo Ball statue yet but he and the Lakers starters have cardboard cutouts outside of Staples Center.

Something to keep an eye on: According to ESPN Stats & Info, Clayton Kershaw has allowed first-pitch 14 hits, including four homers, since the start of September. That's the most of any MLB pitcher. In his Game 1 start, the Cubs swung at just three of 20 first pitches against Kershaw.
