After 232-pitch outing, Garcia helps UCLA clinch

A night after throwing a whopping 232 pitches in a complete-game win, UCLA pitcher Rachel Garcia threw 50 more in a victory over Mississippi that punches the Bruins' ticket to the Women's College World Series.

Sources: Spurs exploring run at Clips' Paul

The Clippers regard the threat of San Antonio signing away All-Star point guard Chris Paul as a legitimate concern, league sources told ESPN, even though the Spurs, at present, have virtually no salary-cap flexibility.

The Lakers are in the process of finalizing a deal to hire Miles Simon as a player development coach, a league source confirms to ESPN. Simon would replace former Lakers player development coach Theo Robertson, who left after one season to become an assistant coach for his alma mater, the California Golden Bears. Like Lakers coach Luke Walton, Simon is an Arizona alum. Simon served as an assistant coach on Arizona's staff and recently was a college basketball analyst for ESPN. The Los Angeles Times first reported that the Lakers were in the process of adding Simon to their staff.

The Dodgers claimed 1B Mike Freeman and P Chris Heston off waivers from the Mariners. Los Angeles also transferred LF Andrew Toles (torn ACL) and P Scott Kazmir (hip) from the 10-day DL to the 60-day DL.
