Kershaw frustrated with injury (0:48)

Clayton Kershaw seemed down postgame. He expressed "a lot of frustration" to be hit with an injury like this after doing "countless hours" of rehab from his previous back issue, but also said a lot of the symptoms are dissimilar and didn't want to speculate as to the extent. He said he was feeling very good leading up to this. Kershaw will see Dr. Robert Watkins, the team's back specialist, tonight.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Clayton Kershaw was taken out as a "precaution," but obviously there's concern there because of the herniated disk that robbed him of 2 1/2 months last year. Roberts believes this issue is more "muscular," and that he didn't have the shooting pain down his leg like he did last year. Kershaw will be going on the disabled list, and they'll have more information on his status on Monday. He's going to undergo further testing. Brandon McCarthy will also go on the DL with a blister issue.

ESPN Stats and Information

Clayton Kershaw didn't factor into the decision after his second-inning injury, but the Dodgers went on to win for the 15th straight time in a game he started. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that's tied for the longest winning streak in a single pitcher's starts in franchise history.

Dodgers win, 5-4, on a 10th-inning walk-off hit by Logan Forsythe, and thus avoid their first loss when leading by three entering the ninth since Aug. 12, 2010.

Kershaw leaves with lower back tightness (0:33)

It had to happen some day, and that day was today. Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen has blown his first save of the season, giving up three ninth-inning runs to the Braves to tie this game at 4. Entered with a 0.88 ERA in 41 innings.

Elijah Weaver tells Espn that he will make an official visit to the USC Trojans on September 2nd. He adds that to his visit schedule of Ohio State on September 9th and Florida on September 16th. Weaver sits at no.46 in the 100.

Angels 3, Red Sox 2: A team that craves for more offense, particularly at third base, lost on a home run by the opposing third baseman. How's that for a cruel twist? Luis Valbuena went deep in the seventh inning, one of three solo homers allowed by Rick Porcello, who fell to 4-13 in a continuation of his luckless anti-Cy Young season. Hanley Ramirez homered.

Clayton Kershaw exited today's start with right lower back tightness, the team said. Not what you want to hear. He missed two and a half months with a herniated disk in his lower back last year.

You have to wonder if Clayton Kershaw's potential injury will motivate the Dodgers' front office to get even more aggressive after someone like Yu Darvish, even if it isn't necessarily serious. Darvish would only be a rental, one who can't be given a qualifying offer if traded, but the Dodgers can't take chances with a group this good.
