Other than against Stanford, USC hasn't really looked like a College Football Playoff contender at any point this season and its loss to Notre Dame (barring a really unlikely set of circumstances) removes the Trojans from the conversation. They're still in a good spot in the Pac-12 South, however, and travel to Tempe next week for a huge game against Arizona State.

The Clippers home opener is today against the Suns despite beating the Lakers at STAPLES Thursday night. They are featuring Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Patrick Beverley, Danilo Gallinari, Milos Teodosić, Lou Williams, and Austin Rivers on their home arena posters this season. The Clippers have covered the Laker banners each of Doc Rivers' five seasons as head coach in an effort to establish the Clippers' home arena identity.

Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush had his best practice of the season Thursday, and it has carried over to this game, as he fired a perfect back-shoulder throw to Kevin Stepherson for a 23-yard score. Coach Brian Kelly said that Wimbush's anticipation when to release the ball is rapidly improving. Combined with his perimeter rushing skill, he will be very tough to stop.
