Seven of the 10 players who survived the Galaxy's "Sueño" tryouts last weekend in Glendale are from Southern California. All of them are training in the club's youth academy this week with the hopes to be among 15 contenders for the May 5-9 "Final Event" at Home Depot Center.

The Galaxy's finalists from Southern California:

• F Javier Castro, 18, Pomona • D Arturo Gallegos, 18, Pomona • M Marco Granados, 17, Pacoima • D Ricardo Guillen, 16, Homeland • F Victor Jimenez, 16, Anaheim • D Jonathan Navas, 18, Los Angeles • M Luis Perez, 18, Los Angeles

Also selected were Northern Californians Dennis Alvarado, 16, a midfielder from Fairfield, and Dennis Garcia, 18, a midfielder from Sacramento. Oscar Velazquez, 14, a midfielder from Las Vegas rounds out the group.

Five of these players will advance to the event next month at Home Depot Center, along with five from both Chicago and Houston. The L.A. five will be announced on Univision's "Republica Deportivo" show on May 2.

This is the fourth year MLS has held its reality TV show-like "Sueño" talent search with Univision. The first winner, Anaheim's Jorge Flores, plays for Chivas USA.
