Alec Martinez hoists the Stanley Cup after the Kings clinched their second title in three seasons following a 3-2 double-overtime win over the Rangers in Game 5. It was Martinez's goal 14:43 into the second overtime that delivered the victory for the Kings in their longest game in franchise history. Jonathan Quick made 28 saves for L.A., and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams scored an early goal. Marian Gaborik, who led the playoffs in goals, scored his 14th of the postseason to tie the score in the third period. During their run to the finals, the Kings became the first team in NHL history to win three Game 7s, all of them on the road.
