Research Notes

  • Trey Burke now has 1,052 career points, the 5th-most by a sophomore in Michigan history.

  • Trey Burke is the 4th player in the last 15 seasons with at least 21 points, 8 assists and 5 steals in a win over a top-10 team.

  • Michigan is the third team since 1996-97 to defeat a top-10 opponent without making a single 3-pointer. The last team to do so was top-ranked UConn, which won at number-5 Louisville in February 2009. It's the first time the Wolverines failed to make a 3-pointer since February 1999 in a loss to Northwestern. That's a span of 453 straight games with at least one 3-pointer.

  • Michigan scored 44 of its 58 points in the paint Sunday, the highest percentage (75.9 percent) of points scored in the paint by a Big Six conference team in any game in the last two seasons. The Wolverines' 44 points in the paint Sunday are tied for their most in a game over the last two seasons. It is also the most paint points Michigan State has allowed in a game during that span.
