Louisville shot 47.6 percent (10-21) outside the paint Saturday, its highest shooting percentage from that distance in the last four Men's Basketball Championships. Russ Smith was the catalyst for the Cardinals from the outside, making four of Louisville's five 3-point field goals.
Louisville scored 42 points in the paint Saturday and has scored 86 paint points in its first two games of the 2013 Men's Basketball Championship. The Cardinals are the third team in the last four tournaments to score at least 40 points in the paint in back-to-back games (North Carolina, 2011 and Kansas, 2012).
Louisville scored 24 points off 20 Colorado State turnovers Saturday. The Cardinals are now 25-0 in the last two seasons when they score at least 24 points off turnovers in a game, including 17-0 this season. Louisville used its full-court press to turn Colorado State over, forcing 13 turnovers on possessions that began with the press.Colorado State had a season-high 20 turnovers and allowed 24 points off turnovers, also a season high. The Rams entered Saturday's game averaging 10.9 turnovers per game, the fewest in the Mountain West.
