The Spartans had five second-chance points against Duke, tied for their third fewest in a game this season. Michigan State entered Friday with 36 second-chance points in the 2013 Men's Basketball Championship, the most in the field entering the Sweet 16. Michigan State had eight offensive rebounds against Duke, nine fewer than they averaged in the first two games of the tournament.
Seth Curry outscored the entire Michigan State team 22-15 on shots outside the paint. Curry was 8-of-15 on such attempts while the Spartans were 6-of-22. Curry's 22 points outside the paint are tied for the most by any player in this year's tournament (Troy Daniels, VCU vs Akron) and are more than either of the Spartans' first two opponents in the Men's Basketball Championship.
Duke now has 13 30-win seasons, matching Kentucky for the most in Division I history.
