Paige, UNC turn it on late to upend Kentucky

Marcus Paige scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half and James Michael McAdoo had 20 points, helping No. 18 North Carolina beat No. 11 Kentucky 82-77 on Saturday.

  • Kentucky had 30 fouls Saturday, the most the Wildcats have had since Jan. 5, 2008, against Louisville (31 fouls). North Carolina had more than double the amount of free-throw makes and attempts that Kentucky's opponents averaged entering the game.

  • Marcus Paige led North Carolina's strong second half, scoring 21 of his 23 after halftime. Paige was especially effective from the free-throw line, making all 10 of his attempts while his teammates shot a combined 16-of-35 (45.7%).
