Research Notes

  • Stephen F. Austin built a six-point halftime lead by taking care of the ball against VCU's havoc defense, turning it over five times on 31 possessions. VCU turned up the pressure in the second half, scoring 13 points off 11 Lumberjack turnovers to force overtime. In the extra period, Stephen F. Austin turned it over once on eight possessions, and VCU failed to capitalize.

  • Stephen F. Austin made three of its final four attempts from outside the paint Friday, including a four-point play to force overtime and 2-of-3 in the extra period. The Lumberjacks had missed 16 of its previous 21 such shots.

  • From Elias: With Stephen F. Austin and VCU needing OT today, that makes 5 NCAA Tournament games going to overtime in this year's Round of 64.
