Iowa St. routs NC Central but loses Niang

Georges Niang scored 24 points to lead third-seeded Iowa State as the Cyclones pulled away from No. 14 North Carolina Central in the second half for a 93-75 win Friday night in the East Region.

  • Georges Niang scored a team-high 24 points Friday before leaving the game with a broken foot. Niang found success in the paint and behind the 3-point line, scoring eight paint points on 4-of-7 shooting and making 4-of-5 3-pointers.

  • Iowa State outscored NC Central by 16 points in the paint Friday. The Cyclones shot 70.6% in the paint, compared to 45.7% for the Eagles. Melvin Ejim was a perfect 6-of-6 in the paint.
