Florida International arrived in Madison, Wis. around 5 a.m. CT a little short on sleep and a little light on luggage -- the Golden Panthers' jerseys did not make the trip.
An ESPN crew reported that the team asked if their game against Wisconsin -- scheduled for 1 p.m. CT Saturday -- could be pushed back while the misplaced threads were located, but the Badgers refused. Instead, the host school bought generic black jerseys, complete with numbers screenprinted on the spot to match the appropriate players, and sneakers from a local sporting goods store to help outfit their opponents.
Though the numbers will match, the players' names will not be on the back of the makeshift uniforms.
The Golden Panthers' actual jerseys may arrive by halftime, and the team would be allowed to change before the second half begins.
