This might be the most balanced matchup of the day. Both Arkansas and North Carolina are led by senior wings. Played a thriller in last year's NCAA tournament. Both entered the game hot, shooting around 40 percent from the 3-point line. This matchup won't warrant the Texas-Duke hype, but it might be a better game.

Arkansas' defense is swarming against North Carolina early. Three blocks and two steals in four-plus minutes, Carolina 0-for-8 from the field.

Here's a shocker: Washington State handed No. 21 Saint Mary's an 84-79 loss in the Wooden Legacy. The Cougars had four players in double digits and got a huge game from sophomore guard Malachi Flynn (26 points) to beat the preseason WCC favorites.

Saint Mary's falls to Washington State in the semifinals of the Wooden Legacy -- despite shooting better than 56 percent from 3-point range.

Chandler Hutchison is on the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list. He returned to Boise State for his senior season with an eye towards the NBA next year. LaPhonso Ellis caught up with Chandler at the PRTO in Myrtle Beach to find out what NBA evaluators want him to work on before he takes his game to the next level.

Coming into the season BYU had a 28% chance, according to BPI, to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Today BYU plays Alabama (No. 33 in BPI), its hardest non-conference game in Brooklyn.

Probably not the path Villanova expected en route to a Battle 4 Atlantis title, but Wildcats handled their business nonetheless. Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges their top two scorers in all three games.

Solid all-around half for Jontay Porter against St. John's. Was good defensively, hit a 3 from the top of the key, put it on the deck a little bit, should've had more than one assist. High IQ.

Heck of a day. 8 games. 14 hours. PK80. Let's do it again tomorrow.

Gonzaga and Florida will be an interesting matchup on Friday in the PK80. Both teams looked good in their first matchups of the tournament. The Gators scored triple digits but they also surrendered 87. Can't do that against a team with Gonzaga's experience and versatility. But the Bulldogs are facing a Florida team with serious shooters and a potent small-ball lineup.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

A masterful offensive performance by the Gators. Florida scores 108 points. Egor Koulechov (26 points, 5-for-5 from the 3-point line) is the real deal. 15 3-pointers as a team. Stanford scored 87 points and still lost by 21. Florida is a threat in the SEC and beyond. Looked like a Final Four team tonight.

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Arizona vs. Purdue in the seventh-place game. Unexpected. Crazy that one will return from the Bahamas with three losses.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Gators already have the new school record for 3-pointers in a half after making 13 before the break. Can they set a new record for 3s in a game? That number is 19 right now.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Florida off to a wild start. The Gators have connected on 13 of 18 attempts from beyond the arc thus far.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Florida starts hot with a 9 for 12 clip from beyond the arc. The Gators will probably cool off, but the Stanford offense is so limited and the lead is so large, Florida will stay in control of the game. Mike White has options. Four players have hit at least one 3.

Paul Biancardi Basketball Recruiting

SMU's 6'8" Akoy Agau who has been dealing with an infection and sitting out is now cleared to play, per SMU. He has been working out but not fully practicing. He brings much needed size to the Mustangs. SMU vs Arizona at 9:30 est on ESPN3.

Get your popcorn ready. Mohamed Bamba and Marvin Bagley III, two top-five recruits in this freshman class, will face off tomorrow when Duke plays Texas in the second round of the PK80. Important early test for both programs. And the NBA execs in the building will love it, too.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

I'm amazed this is still a close game with Kamar Baldwin and Kelan Martin struggling tonight (8-for-30) combined.
