Syracuse went to the full-court press late, but with a minute left, Baylor found Freddie Gillespie open down court for the dunk that basically sealed this. Baylor wins, 78-69, and advances to play Gonzaga. They finished with 16 made 3-pointers — the most ever by a Big 12 team in the Tournament.

Myles Powell led Seton Hall back into the game against Wofford with an inspired second-half performance. But the story of the game, the way it has been all season, was the Terriers' 3-point shooting in the win. In addition to clutch 3s late from NCAA record holder Fletcher Magee, Wofford also got big-time 3s from Nathan Hoover down the stretch. Magee had seven 3s, the 15th time in his career he's hit that many in a single game.

Big 3 by Elijah Hughes, pulling the Orange within 6 with 4:27 left. It is really difficult to shoot 3s on Syracuse's zone, but Baylor has made 15 of them, tied for their most in a game in the last five years.

There have been 6 ties and 12 lead changes between Baylor and Syracuse, but Baylor has gained a little separation, up 6 with a little more than 6 minutes left. Syracuse's Elijah Hughes has been held to zero points and two shots in the second half.

Wofford guard Fletcher Magee set the NCAA career 3-point record against Seton Hall. Magee needed three 3-pointers against the Pirates to set the record, and the anticipation in the arena mounted each time he touched the ball. He got his third in the second half to give him 505 for his career, breaking the mark Travis Bader set in 2014 at Oakland.

Baylor and Syracuse combined for 19 made 3-pointers in the first half, only 11 shy of the NCAA Tournament record. Baylor jumped out to an 11-point lead, but is now ahead by only 1. Makai Mason leads with 16 points and is 4 of 6 from 3; Elijah Hughes has 18 for Syracuse.

After a horrendous start, Montana showed some signs of offensive life toward the end of the first half against Michigan. The Grizzlies made made five of their final eight shots in the half after starting 4-of-25. Michigan put on a defensive clinic for much of the half, taking the Grizzlies out of their offense and forcing either a three-pointer or a 1-on-1 drive to the basket. Montana will need much more hot shooting in the second half to overcome a 34-21 deficit.

Through one half against Seton Hall, it is easy to see how Wofford has won 20 games in a row. The Terriers are playing with confidence and a great rhythm on offense, and the aggressor on defense. It helps to have Fletcher Magee, who tied the NCAA career 3-point mark in the first half. But everyone shot the ball well in the first half - the Terriers made 51 percent of their shots, including 5-of-10 from 3.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Baylor and Syracuse attempted a combined 30 3-pointers within the first 17 minutes. Welcome to basketball in 2019.

Nothing is coming easy for Montana on the offensive end in the final game of the day in Des Moines. Michigan is contesting every Montana shot and most of them aren't going in. The Grizzlies are shooting 16 percent (4-of-25) with seven minutes left in the first half. Michigan leads 23-8 and at this rate won't have to score much more to advance to the second round.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Though it is early, Seton Hall standout Myles Powell has been a non-factor. Rather, Wofford has been the story in the early going thanks to its outside shooting. The Terriers, No. 2 in the nation in 3-point shooting, started off 4-of-7 from behind the arc.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Michigan, which fell behind Montana 10-0 in last year's NCAA tournament first-round game, is under none of the same stress in this year's game against the Grizzlies. By holding the Grizzlies to 1-of-8 shooting, the Wolverines are up 9-2 five minutes in.

The final: Gonzaga 87, Fairleigh Dickinson 49. Gonzaga shot 53 percent from the field, forced 17 turnovers and won the assist battle 22-8. Japanese-born Rui Hachimura led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Fairleigh Dickinson's two guards, Darnell Edge and Jahlil Jenkins, were a major focus for Gonzaga heading into this game. They're a combined 3 of 17, and Gonzaga leads by 40 with less than 4 minutes left.

Sign of the night from the Abilene Christian band ...

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Nevada last season won two games in the NCAA tournament before losing by a point in the Sweet 16. The Wolf Pack's stay in the tournament this season will be much shorter. Nevada, the No. 7 seed in the West Regional, fell to 10th-seeded Florida 70-61 in the first round in Des Moines. Caleb Martin finished with 21 points for the Wolf Pack, but made just 5-of-22 shots. Florida will play the winner of the Michigan-Montana game on Saturday.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Kentucky beat Abilene Christian resoundingly in the first round, thanks in large part to the trio of Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro and Travis Reid. Johnson scored a game-high 25 points, while Herro and Travis combined for 32. It will get tougher from here, but for one game anyway, Kentucky didn't need PJ Washington to get a win.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

The Fairleigh Dickinson mascot lost his mask during a dance-off with the Gonzaga Bulldog. Fitting. Gonzaga 76, Dickinson 40 with 7:27 left.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Nevada, which once trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half, is making some progress. The Wolf Pack, the seventh-seed in the West Regional, are down 58-46 with less than eight minutes left. It's hard to see Nevada getting much closer without more help from Caleb Martin, its leading scorer in the regular season. Martin has 10 points on 3-of-17 shooting. Martin averaged more than 19 points in the regular season.

Paul Sabin ESPN Analytics

Entering today Saint Mary's, Belmont, and Murray State were the most likely double-digit seeds to win according to espn.com/bpi. Belmont lost a close one, Murray State was dominant, and Saint Mary's is up at the half.

Florida, a 42-percent shooting team in the regular season, is on fire in the second half in Des Moines against Nevada. The Gators are 5-of-7 in the early minutes after halftime to open up a 48-33 lead over the seventh-seeded Wolf Pack.

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Gonzaga, owners of the best offense in Division-I this season, leads by a 53-17 score at halftime. Fairleigh Dickinson made only 19 percent of its field goal attempts, including zero in the final 4:33. Gonzaga ended the half on a 19-0 run.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Here's a pretty interesting stat to note from Kentucky's 39-13 halftime lead on Abilene Christian. The 13 points are the fewest Kentucky has given up in a half in NCAA tournament history.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

With PJ Washington watching from the sideline, Kentucky overwhelmed Abilene Christian in the first half, showing it did not need its star player to handle the undermanned No. 15 seed. Kentucky outscored Abilene Christian 26-6 in the paint and outrebounded them 23-10. Kentucky was 9-of-12 on layups, compared with 3-of-9 for Abilene Christian.

From ESPN Stats & Info: Gonzaga made more transition points (7) than Fairleigh Dickinson made total points (4) in the first 5 minutes. 10 minutes in, it's Gonzaga 24, Fairleigh Dickinson 6. Feels every bit like a 16 vs 1.
