Kareem Canty commits to Auburn

New Auburn coach Bruce Pearl has another commitment.

Marshall freshman guard Kareem Canty, who averaged 16.3 points and 5.5 assists per game last season, has committed to the Tigers. Canty informed ESPN that he made the decision late Saturday night on a visit to the school.

Canty was also slated to visit South Florida and Penn State.

Pearl took over for Barbee last month. He had been working as an ESPN analyst after being fired following a successful six-year run at Tennessee in which he led the Vols to the NCAA tournament in all six seasons.

Auburn finished 14-16 last season under Barbee. The Tigers lose leading scorer Chris Denson, a senior.
