Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle told ESPN that he doesn't expect his son, Tres, to play this week for the Beavers.
Tinkle confirmed Tuesday that Tres indeed will sit out the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
"He hasn't progressed at the rate that we'd hope," Wayne Tinkle told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
The Beavers play VCU Thursday in an NCAA tournament first-round matchup.
Tres Tinkle missed the Beavers' past four games with a right foot injury he suffered in practice on March 1.
The 6-foot-8 forward has averaged 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds this season.
"We're uncertain of his return, but I don't think he'll play this week," the coach added.
