Sooners center Akolda Manyang suspended indefinitely after assault charge

Oklahoma Sooners reserve center Akolda Manyang has been suspended indefinitely after being charged with felony aggravated assault.

The 22-year-old Manyang, a reserve center who averaged 2.5 points and 2.1 rebounds for the Sooners last season, is accused of punching former Sooners' football player Tyler Evans in the mouth, breaking two of his teeth, without provocation at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the Tulsa World.

"We are aware of the matter and Akolda has been indefinitely suspended from the team," the university said in a statement.

Manyang left the Sooners during their NCAA tournament run in March following the death of his 24-year-old brother at a treatment facility for people struggling with substance abuse in St. Peter, the Ramsey County, Minnesota.
