CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Incoming Miami freshman guard Lonnie Walker has torn the meniscus in his right knee and will require surgery.
Walker was hurt while playing Tuesday, the Hurricanes said. The timetable for his return will be determined after the operation, but Miami coach Jim Larranaga told ESPN on Wednesday that he expects Walker to be healthy and ready to compete once the season begins in November.
A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Walker is coach Jim Larranaga's most highly touted recruit in his six years at Miami. Walker, who was ranked as the No. 12 overall recruit in the 2017 ESPN 100, is projected as a likely first-round pick in the 2018 NBA draft.
