Jared Sullinger (back) doesn't play

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Ohio State star Jared Sullinger missed Saturday's game against No. 13 Kansas because of a bad back.

Sullinger tried to get it stretched out before the game, but he did not appear along with the rest of his team during the shootaround. He finally emerged from the tunnel with about 30 minutes left before the tipoff wearing jeans and a sweater.

Sullinger also missed the second-ranked Buckeyes' game against Texas Pan-American last Saturday.

Not only does Sullinger average better than 19 points and 10 rebounds, he also would have been tasked with guarding Thomas Robinson, the Jayhawks' own All-American candidate.

That job instead fell to Evan Ravenel, a junior who transferred in from Boston College.
