Kansas' Ben McLemore arrested

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas freshman Ben McLemore has been arrested after missing a Dec. 6 court appearance to answer a citation for underage possession of alcohol.

The highly recruited guard from St. Louis was ruled a partial qualifier this season, which means he isn't eligible to compete in games but can practice with the team following the fall semester. He was cited last month at a bar near campus.

Coach Bill Self said Tuesday that nobody within the program was aware McLemore had received a citation or had a scheduled court appearance. Self said McLemore will begin practicing once grades from this semester are turned in and any disciplinary measures will be handled internally.

The No. 12 Jayhawks are coming off a victory over second-ranked Ohio State. They don't play again until Dec. 19, when they face Davidson in Kansas City, Mo.
