Coaches unflinching for No. 1 Kentucky

The top five in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll remained unchanged Monday from last week, as Kentucky, Syracuse, Missouri, Duke and Kansas escaped upsets in conference play with March Madness looming.

Kentucky remained a unanimous No. 1, receiving all 31 votes for the fifth straight week. In the Associated Press media poll, Kentucky and Syracuse were 1-2 for the fourth straight week.

Ohio State and Baylor were the only top 10 teams to lose. The Buckeyes fell three spots to No. 9, while the Bears dropped four places to No. 14.

Unranked Kansas State will aim to knock off a top-10 team for the second time in four days when they visit the No. 3 Tigers on Tuesday night (ESPN2, 7 p.m. ET). The Wildcats edged host Baylor 57-56 on Saturday.

No. 6 Michigan State, North Carolina and Georgetown preceded Ohio State, with Marquette, Florida, Murray State and Michigan coming in ahead of Baylor.

UNLV and San Diego State were the big movers of the week -- in the wrong direction.

The Rebels plunged nine slots to No. 20 after a dispirited 65-45 loss to New Mexico. The Aztecs barely held on in the poll, sinking to No. 25 from No. 15 after a 58-56 loss to Air Force.
