Morehead State coach Donnie Tyndall is contemplating accepting an offer to coach Southern Miss, but a source close to Tyndall told ESPN.com early Friday that his close relationship with the administration is making him consider staying.
The source said Tyndall isn't sure he wants to leave a comfortable situation at the Ohio Valley Conference school.
Tyndall edged ahead of Mississippi Valley State's Sean Woods and former Nebraska and UTEP coach Doc Sadler in the last few days.
The source said Tyndall would decide later Friday or early Saturday morning.
Southern Miss had the candidates guessing Thursday night, with sources saying each one thought the other was getting the job to replace Larry Eustachy.
Eustachy left the Golden Eagles, after leading them to the NCAA tournament, for Colorado State.
