Ben Howland said Kentucky elevates the entire league because "you know they'll have the No. 1 recruiting class" every year and elevate the RPI of its opponents in the league. He also said their recruiting formula has helped others. "Duke has basically copied [Calipari's] recruiting style and it's worked for them."
College basketball is just around the corner, and Dickie V has his eye on 40 of the country's best teams. Who comes after the Blue Devils and Wildcats?
With college hoops a few weeks away, it's a good time to know which games you need to see. So get your calendars. You'll want to mark these down.

Duke F Amile Jefferson chats with Andy Katz and Rick Klein about the definition of "locker room talk", rising political activism with athletes, the HB2 ruling in N.C., expectations for the upcoming season and more.
Powerhouses have work to do
With four weeks to go until national signing day, Duke and Kentucky are missing from the top 10 of ESPN's 2017 class rankings. But don't expect them to be left out once the dust settles. Recruiting Rankings (Insider)
Only one month remains until the early signing period, but Duke has reached out to three five-star point guards recently as it casts a wider net.
College basketball is beloved because any team can beat any other on any given night, but a combination of premier teams and weak mid-majors should make for few upsets this season.
Harry Giles' heath a concern
Duke's Grayson Allen enters the season as one of the favorites to win the Wooden Award, notes Andy Katz. But the biggest concern for a loaded Duke squad will be Harry Giles' knees. Katz: Season preview
Allen makes All-Rolls Royce team
Duke has four five-star recruits coming in, but none of them are eligible for Dick Vitale's "solid gold" list. Grayson Allen (21.6 PPG as a sophomore) is named among the nation's top returning players. All-Rolls Roycers
No. 3 prospect Wendell Carter is down to Duke, Harvard, Georgia and Georgia Tech -- but likely won't sign during the early period in November.

There are 17 top-27 seniors heading to USA Basketball's mini-camp this weekend. Where are each of them leaning?
Bluebloods have dominated lately
Since John Calipari arrived at Kentucky, no team has more wins or Final Four appearances. Kansas and Duke are close, while "mid-majors" Gonzaga and Wichita State are tied with 202 wins apiece since the 2009-10 season.
College basketball season is about a month away. So it's no longer "too early" to determine the best of the best. Argue all you want about Nos. 2-24, but No. 1 remains a no-brainer: Hello, Duke.
Preseason buzz is dominated by freshmen, but players who are returning from injury, like Indiana's James Blackmon Jr., will seem like new faces.
C.L. Brown ESPN Staff Writer
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski isn't shying away from the expectations that come with being the likely preseason No. 1 team, "Our goal is to win the national championship. I'm not sure how many programs have that goal, we do... We have a team that, if it's healthy, that's a legitimate goal."
Andy Katz and Seth Greenberg discuss Harry Giles' status and more. Plus, they visit with Gonzaga coach Mark Few, Washington's Lorenzo Romar and Oregon's Dana Altman.
O'Neil: Conference races to watch
The ACC boasts a national title favorite in Duke but also contenders (UNC and Virginia), sleepers (Louisville and Syracuse) and a host of teams that will make things interesting (NC State, Miami and Notre Dame). Dana O'Neil, however, is intrigued by the unknown. Most interesting: ACC or Big Ten?
