Surprisingly enough, Mo Bamba never faced Marvin Bagley or Wendell Carter on the Nike EYBL circuit. Bamba missed Memorial Day Weekend 2016, when his @PSACardinals faced Bagley's Phoenix Phamily (and won anyway).

Get your popcorn ready. Mohamed Bamba and Marvin Bagley III, two top-five recruits in this freshman class, will face off tomorrow when Duke plays Texas in the second round of the PK80. Important early test for both programs. And the NBA execs in the building will love it, too.

Duke escapes with victory over Portland State (1:07)

No. 1 Duke, down at half, rallies by Portland St.

Trevon Duval scored 22 points, and top-ranked Duke pulled away for a 99-81 victory over the surprisingly tenacious Portland State Vikings on Thursday to open the Phil Knight Invitational tournament.

This lopsided score doesn't tell the full story about this game. Portland State showed up. Barrett Perry can build something here. And I won't be surprised if Portland State leaves the PK80 with a win.

Portland State's Deontae North was sitting near the scorers table, waiting to check in. Somehow, he drew his second technical of the game. That's just bizarre. Never seen anything like that.

Portland State's Deontae North hit with a technical foul after he appeared to throw a punch at Wendell Carter Jr. during a fight for a loose ball. Silly.

Duke is making it simple now. Using its size, length and athleticism to attack in the paint. Didn't do enough of that in the first half. Offensive rebounding rate is up to 41 percent right now.

Well, it's real out here in Portland. Duke struggling to find and hit shots against this Portland State zone. Not very physical, either. On the other end, Portland State (46.2 percent from beyond the arc) is loving this Duke zone. Finding open looks. Duke was sloppy in the first half and now they're down.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

No size. But they're flying all over the floor. Challenging a bigger team for rebounds. Attacking inside. Doesn't matter if Portland State wins this or not. Gained a lot of respect off this first-half effort.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Portland State entered this game shooting 43 percent from the 3-point line. The Vikings started 5-for-9 from beyond the arc in this game. Portland State fans are going wild for this surprising start.

In this tournament, Duke needs Tre Duval to play like a true point guard. Turnover on previous possession was just the result of him trying to force a pass into the post. Portland State starting strong. Duval has to be the guy who helps the Blue Devils play with more patience.

No surprise North Carolina downs top dogs

When it comes to taking down AP top-2 teams, the Tar Heels know a thing or two. North Carolina could have a chance to add another to the list in February when it faces Duke, currently ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25.

How Grayson Allen saved opening weekend

Allen's heroics in Chicago last week elevated the event on a national level, which is not easy to do with college football, the NBA, the NHL and the NFL all dominating the headlines right now.
