Harry Giles has a unique personality. So confident of who he is -- at such a young age. Here's a snippet of the Duke freshman -- who is coming back from his second significant knee injury.

Duke freshman Marques Bolden's first name isn't pronounced how you think.

Amile Jefferson, healthy and ready to play, is chatting with Jeff Goodman now. He told me earlier that his goal is to teach a young Duke team what it means to be "worthy" to win.

No timetable for exact return, but rehab going well and it sure sounds as though Harry Giles on schedule to be cleared soon for full-contact practice and be ready for the opener.

Dana O'Neil ESPN Senior Writer

Duke's Harry Giles just told Jeff Goodman that he can cook "a hamburger, but not anything you'd make for a date or anything." Giles' personality is as big as his game.

Grayson Allen said he has dropped 10 pounds from last season. "I feel much quicker," Allen said. Played at about 210 last year, is back down to 200 -- which is what he came in as a freshman.

This year's ACC could be deepest yet

Duke is at the top. North Carolina, Virginia, Louisville and Syracuse will be close behind. The ACC is always king in college basketball, but this year's league could be deeper than ever.

Jeff Goodman ESPN Insider

OK, maybe Frank Jackson really is 6-4. Maybe even 6-5 with the hair.

Jayson Tatum just told me that his roommate Harry Giles can't cook and doesn't clean the bathroom. Can't wait to hear Giles' response.

For now, just me and the hum of the lights at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Soon enough that will change.

The best recruiter for each top-25 team

To be a top 25 team, you need to get players. To get players, you have to have recruiters who can close the deal. That's why it helps teams in the top 25 to have these guys on staff.

Looking for points? These offenses will score at will

Defense might win championships, but offense is more fun to watch. Teams like defending champion Villanova are shaping up to be very efficient at putting the ball in the hoop.

Source: Duke plans to hold UK-style NBA combine

Duke will host its first-ever Kentucky-style scouting combine for NBA scouts and executives on Oct. 19 and Oct. 25, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

Andy Katz ESPN Senior Writer

Transcript of Coach K on CNBC on NCAA decision to pull championship events this year from North Carolina: "Yeah, yeah, it's embarrassing for our state that this has happened. Our state has gone through, the economic stuff in our state as a result, not just of losing business, you know, events - image. How much do all these companies, states, areas spend on image? Our image is being tarnished. And it's embarrassing. My A.D. came out with a great statement, Kevin White last night, that I'm totally supportive of. It's sad, really, it's sad for our state."
