North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham on the NCAA's academic investigation: "We didn't win [by avoiding sanctions]. It wasn't good for us, it wasn't good for the industry, it wasn't a good experience for our students. ... We know we've made a lot of mistakes as an institution. We know our students primarily got great classes while at Carolina. But we worked with every accrediting agency and we followed their process. We're committed to being open. Now what we have to do is earn back people's trust."

David M. Hale ESPN Staff Writer

Davidson coach Bob McKillip on UNC's Luke Maye, who grew up in nearby Cornelius, NC: "You can ask him, no one recruited that kid more than I did. I thought he'd be a star for us. But he's a star for them."

Final from Charlotte. North Carolina 85 Davidson 75. Luke Maye with 24 points and 17 rebounds. UNC is a connected team on both ends of the floor. Davidson will be very good in the A10. Really like frosh Kellan Grady from Northfield Mount Hermon.

UNC's Maye slams home offensive rebound (0:22)

David M. Hale ESPN Staff Writer

First half numbers show a marked stylistic difference. UNC holds a 26-8 edge in the paint, while Davidson shot 40% from 3 to UNC's woeful 2-of-12 beyond the arc.

Joel Berry didn't hit a bucket in the first 13:35 of action, but he finished the first half on a tear, attacking the basket and recording 12 of UNC's final 17 points of the half.

David M. Hale ESPN Staff Writer

Luke Maye with his fourth double-double of the season for UNC, this one coming before the end of the first half.

Davidson came into the game leading the nation in 3s, and the Wildcats have lived up to the advance billing, connecting on 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. The bigger problem for UNC, however, is the Heels are ice cold from long distance, hitting just 1-of-9 from 3 with just under 4 minutes to play in the half.

David M. Hale ESPN Staff Writer

UNC sophomore Brandon Robinson already with a career high eight points in just 5 minutes of action. Robinson missed time early this season with a shoulder injury, but has provided the Heels with a nice boost off the bench, finishing a number of nice shots at the rim.

No.13 North Carolina vs Davidson tonight 8pm on ESPN2. Davidson looking for the upset as they lead the nation in 3-pointers per game (13.8), assist-turnover ratio (2.48) and assist per game (21.8). North Carolina is +8.7 on the glass and they go to the FT line 16 times per game.

Rest easy, Roy, North Carolina will be just fine

Roy Williams had barely slept since North Carolina's blowout loss to Michigan State on Sunday. He hoped for better against Michigan, and the Tar Heels delivered.
