Villanova too much for UNC Asheville (1:51)

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Villanova's season has ended at the hands of a lower-seeded team in the second round each of the past two seasons -- and hasn't been out of the first weekend since 2009. After beating UNC-Asheville, the Wildcats get another chance on Sunday. Can they exorcise their demons?

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Daniel Ochefu looks completely different than a week ago, when he was limited in the Big East Tournament with a sprained ankle. Moving better, making quicker moves with his back to the basket. Has given Nova an entirely different dimension at both ends of the court.

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Villanova ends the half on a 16-4 run -- capped by a Ryan Arcidiacono 3-pointer at the buzzer. Wildcats made 3-pointers on four of its last five possessions, and Asheville has found it difficult to score in a half-court setting. UNCA's defenses have made things difficult for Villanova, but the Wildcats have been able to maintain a lead through the outside shot.

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Asheville's multiple defenses -- mainly the trapping 1-3-1 zone -- has been giving Villanova some issues since the opening few minutes. On the flip side, though, UNCA can't score. Five-minute drought.

Villanova vs. UNC Asheville gets underway in about 20 minutes. Jay Wright and the Wildcats haven't been to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament since 2009. One interesting thing to watch: Asheville has the nation's second-best 3-point defense, while Nova ranks in the top 25 nationally in 3-point attempt rate.

BPI doesn't count out the No. 15 seeds

BPI projects nearly a one-in-five chance that a No. 15 seed beats a No. 2 seed in the first round for only the eighth time in NCAA tourney history. Florida Gulf Coast was the last team to do it, in 2013. BPI predicts the tourney

How to bet UNC-Asheville vs. Villanova

UNC-Asheville doesn't have the size or athleticism to stay with Villanova, which is No. 1 in scoring defense at 65.9 points per game. This should be a fairly low-scoring game, as Villanova should win comfortably without a foul-fest at the end to push it over. Betting guide (Insider)

Don't bank on UNC-Asheville to upset Nova

The Bulldogs can annoy anybody with their relentless pressure, but they're undersized and allow their opponents to shoot 51.9 percent on 2-point attempts. With an upset chance a shade under 13 percent, they need the Wildcats to go cold. Giant Killers (Insider)
