Franks record performance leads WSU past Cal 78-53

Robert Franks scored 25 of his 34 points in the second half, breaking a program record for 3-pointers made in a single game, and Washington State cruised to a 78-53 win over California on Saturday.

Freshmen lead California past Seattle 81-59

Darius McNeill scored 20 points and Justice Sueing added 17 as the two freshmen helped California pull away in the second half for an 81-59 victory over Seattle on Tuesday night.


California rallies to beat San Diego State 63-62

Juhwan Harris-Dyson made two free throws with 7.8 seconds left and Don Coleman converted a 3-point play in the final minute to finish with 19 points for California, which rallied to beat San Diego State 63-62 Saturday after blowing a 14-point lead.


McNeill's big game leads Cal past Cal State Northridge

Freshman Darius McNeill made his first seven field-goal attempts, including five 3-pointers, and finished with 22 points as Cal broke a three-game losing streak with an 83-63 victory over Cal State Northridge on Tuesday night.

Cal coach Wyking Jones was blunt after the Bears' loss to Division II Chaminade. "For me, in all the years that I've been coaching, I've never been so embarrassed in my life from the lack of effort from our guys," he said. "So, for me, it's about going back to the drawing board, myself and my staff, and figuring out what changes we need to make because there definitely needs to be some changes. So we just have to go back to the drawing board and figure that out, what changes we need to make. But there will definitely be some changes.

Chaminade's 96-72 win against Cal in the seventh-place game of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational was the Silversword's first in the tournament since beating Texas in 2012. The Division II school is 8-92 all-time in the tournament, which started two years after it beat No. 1 Virginia in 1982.

No. 6 Wichita State trailed by 18 in the second half, but found a way to come back and beat Cal, 92-82, to open the Maui Invitational. Once Cal built the big lead, the Bears played nervous and were completely out of rhythm as a result of the Shockers' full-court press.
