Gaels climb to No. 21 in rankings
Saint Mary's improves one notch despite having a nine-game winning streak snapped at Gonzaga. The Gaels must wait almost a month before hosting the Zags on Feb. 11. Power Rankings
Purdue, Xavier slip to Joe's 6 line
Joe Lunardi demotes Purdue following the Iowa loss and Xavier before Monday afternoon's loss to Creighton. The Boilers and Musketeers are joined by Saint Mary's and Minnesota, which hold their positions. Bracketology
Fifth-ranked Gonzaga thumped Saint Mary's to extend its winning streak to 17 games and efficiently showed why it is a major threat to go unbeaten.
Nigel Williams-Goss scored 19 points and No. 5 Gonzaga beat archrival No. 21 Saint Mary's 79-56 on Saturday night to remain the only undefeated team in Division I college basketball.

Not sure I've ever seen a player as good as Jock Landale commit three worse fouls to take himself out of a game. Saint Mary's looked on the verge of pushing Gonzaga to the wire early in the second half, when Landale -- a legit POY candidate -- returned from a foul-ridden, six minute first half and got his game going around the rim. Instead the Gaels got run out of the gym. (Not unrelated: Gonzaga is really good.)
Visiting Louisville with a limited (at best) Amile Jefferson looks to be a tall order for Duke. And that's not the weekend's only big ACC tilt.
Forget about Duke-Louisville and Florida State's trip to Chapel Hill. Saturday's best entertainment will come from Spokane, Washington, where Saint Mary's will try to deal Gonzaga its first loss.
ESPN Stats and Information
Saint Mary's men's basketball held Portland to 33 points, the 2nd-fewest by any team in a game this season. Virginia held St. Francis Brooklyn to 32 points in a game earlier this season.
Calvin Hermanson scored a career-high 27 points and No. 21 Saint Mary's shut down the Portland Pilots for a 74-33 victory Thursday night.
Three new 6 seeds in eyes of Lunardi
A loss at Michigan State didn't stop Joe Lunardi from bumping Minnesota up to his six line, where Wisconsin tumbled after a loss at Purdue. Notre Dame also fell into the 6 seed while Saint Mary's remained locked in out west. Bracketology
Bilas Index: Saint Mary's ranked No. 29
The Gaels' 120 points per 100 possessions is the highest offensive efficiency in the WCC, notes Jay Bilas. If anyone can knock off Gonzaga, it's the Gaels. Top 68 (Insider)
Saint Mary's steady in Power Rankings
The Gaels didn't move after wins over BYU and San Francisco. They can make a major statement against unbeaten No. 5 Gonzaga on Saturday. Power Rankings
Jock Landale had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 19 Saint Mary's overcame a sluggish start to beat San Francisco 63-52 on Saturday night.
Jock Landale unstoppable in the paint
The junior center went 11-of-13 from the field, accounting for 22 of Saint Mary's 42 points in the paint. He totaled 26 points in the Gaels' 81-68 win over BYU on Thursday night.
