Biggest recruiting questions facing new coaches

Can Josh Pastner keep top talent in Georgia? Will Tubby Smith change his recruiting philosophy at Memphis? New coaches face some difficult questions.

Andy Katz ESPN Senior Writer

Great move by new Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner hiring former Portland coach Eric Reveno for his staff. Never heard anyone say a negative word about Reveno. Known to be a high-level big man coach (was at Stanford). Reveno also should help Pastner with administrative aspects of job and a good quote for media. A source said the hire will be official soon. Pastner also has hired former Georgia State and Georgia Tech assistant Darryle LaBerrie.

Josh Pastner's deal at Georgia Tech expected to be six years at $11 million overall. Salary will climb each year. He had four years left at Memphis at $10-plus million. So yes this is a much better deal. Pastner was in Little Rock, Ark, recruiting Wednesday when he got the call. He has been with Georgia Tech officials the past 30-plus hours figuring out deal.

Why Pastner is heading to Georgia Tech (2:37)

Josh Pastner has been looking for a way out of Memphis but wasn't going to leave money on the table. He would have gone to TCU. He will land better at Georgia Tech once this is official, which I agree @GoodmanESPN will be later today.
