Terry Collins says David Wright will be in Port St. Lucie beginning in January. Wright is due to begin baseball activity shortly. Collins hopes Wright will play, maybe, four days in a row and then have a day off during the season.

Terry Collins says Travis d'Arnaud and Michael Conforto likely will get some exposure to first base during spring training. Collins already has spoken with Jose Reyes about exposure to center field in spring training.

A full postseason share for Cubs players after winning the World Series is $368,871.59, the league announced on Tuesday. The Cubs issued 66 full shares, 8.7 partial shares and four cash awards. The players pool is formed using a formula based on gate receipts from the postseason. The players vote on who receives shares.

A rival executive said he heard the St. Louis Cardinals' initial offer to Dexter Fowler is in the same range as the four years and $60 million that the Toronto Blue Jays reportedly made.

Chicago based agent Mark Pieper holds court with Japanese media regarding Munenori Kawasaki and pitcher Koji Uehara. Pieper will meet with the Cubs regarding a possible reunion with Kawasaki though the infielder is debating whether he wants to play in the states again. It's likely he will. Uehara is an outside fit for the Cubs as a body for the back end of the bullpen though at 42 years old he's hardly the answer at closer.

Since the beginning of 2013, Chris Sale has held lefty hitters to a .484 OPS, best among AL starters. Last year, the Orioles posted a .692 OPS against lefty pitchers, worst among AL teams. In other words, the O's can't be terribly pleased that Sale is now a card-carrying member of the AL East.

The Boston Red Sox moved from 10-1 to 5-1 to win the World Series at the Westgate SuperBook, with the trade for starting pitcher Chris Sale from the Chicago White Sox. The Ref Sox are now the second favorites, behind only the Chicago Cubs, to win the World Series. The White Sox dropped from 50-1 to 100-1.
