Blazing-hot Dustin Pedroia is expected to miss the Red Sox's Sunday Night Baseball matchup against the Royals for personal reasons, as the Boston Herald reported. Additional details, including how many games Pedroia will miss, are not yet known. Sox manager John Farrell will address the situation later today in his pregame press briefing. Pedroia has 11 hits in his last 12 at-bats.

Watch Ben Zobrist discuss his sac bunt in the first inning on Saturday against the Dodgers. It was the first in MLB by a cleanup hitter in the first inning this season. Zobrist says he was actually given the "suggestion" from Joe Maddon to bunt for a hit and once he got down 0-1 he figured he had a better chance of getting one down then swinging away.

Asdrubal Cabrera has an issue with the same knee that sent him to the disabled list. He had been on the DL for three weeks with a strained patellar tendon in his left knee. Cabrera had been hitting .455 (15-for-33) since returning, including a first-inning infield single Sunday before departing.

Add Asdrubal Cabrera to the mounting injuries for the Mets. Cabrera departed Sunday's game in the first inning after gingerly advancing to second base on a single by Kelly Johnson. Cabrera had collided at first base with Philadelphia's Tommy Joseph earlier in the inning, when Cabrera reached on an infield single.
