Players donate items to Hall

The All-Star Game may just have happened Tuesday night, but items from it already are joining some of baseball's most storied artifacts in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Pablo Sandoval's bat and Chipper Jones' bat and cap from Tuesday's Midsummer Classic in Kansas City have been donated to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Sandoval hit the first bases-loaded triple in All-Star Game history during the National League's 8-0 victory against the American League. The three-run triple contributed to the NL's five-run first inning off Justin Verlander.

Jones, meanwhile, was making his final All-Star Game appearance. He has announced his intentions to retire after this season, his 19th. Jones had a sixth-inning single in the game.

Also heading to the Hall will be the bat of Nick Castellanos, who was named MVP of Sunday's Futures Game after collecting a home run, two singles and three runs scored.

All four items will be on display for the opening of Hall of Fame Weekend on July 20 in Cooperstown.
